Lars Rasmussen is a globally recognized computer scientist, entrepreneur, and advisor to Ask Wire. Best known as the co-founder of Google Maps, Lars brings deep expertise in large-scale platform development, product innovation, and technology leadership.

Experience

Co-founder of Google Maps | Angel Investor

Originally from Denmark, Lars earned his PhD in theoretical computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. In the early 2000s, he co-founded Where 2 Technologies with his brother, a startup that was later acquired by Google. Their work became the foundation for what is now Google Maps, one of the most widely used and impactful digital products globally.

Following his success at Google, Lars joined Facebook as Director of Engineering, where he led product and engineering teams in Menlo Park and London, helping scale global collaboration tools and drive innovation at the intersection of social and technology.

Today, Lars is an active angel investor with a portfolio that includes companies such as Canva, Astranis, and Weav Music. He also serves as a founding board member of Panathēnea, a nonprofit innovation festival based in Athens, Greece, where he currently resides.

As Ask Wire’s tech advisor, Lars offers strategic guidance on product scalability, platform architecture, and innovation—ensuring the company remains at the forefront of real estate data technology.
